چکیده

This paper investigates the realization of an efficient low-complexity turbo-equalizer under fixedpoint data representation and computation constraints. We address the quantization issues that arise in the receiver design, and expose a simple computation procedure for the equalizer coefficients. The proposed solution is well-suited for a DSP implementation on low cost 16 bits fixed-point devices such as Texas Instrument next generation C55x platform. The simulation results show a performance loss of 0.2 dB in comparison with the ideal unquantized receiver on a specific channel model. 1

Turbo-equalization for bandwidth-efficient digital communications over frequency-selective channels

This thesis deals with the problem of combining equalization with decoding for high data ratebandwidth-efficient transmissions over frequency-selective channels. Specifically, we focus on Turbo-Equalization which establishes an exchange of soft information between the equalizer and the decoderin an iterative manner. We first consider MAP turbo-equalizers which rely on trellis-based ...

Implementation of a Low-Complexity MMSE Turbo-Equalizer on the TMS320VC5509

This report describes the implementation of a low-complexity minimum mean-square error (MMSE) turbo-equalizer on Texas Instruments TMS320VC5509 device, a low-cost 16-bits fixed-point DSP with low power consumption designed for mobile handsets. A data rate of 207 Kbits/s per iteration has been obtained with programming mainly in C. With carefully optimized data quantization, the resulting fixed-...

Reduced-complexity space-time turbo-equalization for frequency-selective MIMO channels

We consider turbo equalization of space–time-coded transmission over frequency-selective fading multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) channels. A MIMO finite-impulse-response prefilter is proposed and shown to reduce the turbo equalizer complexity significantly at a small performance loss. Advantages of the proposed scheme are that we do not alter the equalization algorithm or require the chann...

A Low Complexity Turbo Equalizer

In this paper a new Soft Input Soft Output (SISO) equalizer of linear complexity is developed. The algorithm can be used in the so-called Turbo Equalization scheme as a low cost solution in place of the Maximum A-Posteriori (MAP) equalization algorithm which has a prohibitive complexity for most real world applications. The proposed equalizer consists of two parts, namely, a Soft Interference C...

Novel Low-Complexity Graph-Based Turbo Equalization for Single-Carrier and Multi-Carrier FTN Signaling

We propose a novel turbo detection scheme based on the factor graph serial-schedule belief propagation equalization algorithm with low complexity for single-carrier faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) and multicarrier FTN signaling. In this work, the additive white Gaussian noise channel and multi-path fading channels are both considered. The iterative factor graph-based equalization algorithm can deal w...
